Case: Online video rental

Movie rental service launch strategy

My first educational project in PostgreSQL, followed by the creation of a visual dashboard presentation in Tableau.

Project Objective: The Rockbuster Stealth Management Board has asked a series of business questions and they expect data-driven answers that they can use for their 2020 company strategy.

Context: Rockbuster Stealth LLC – a movie rental company that has stores worldwide. Faced with stiff competition from streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime, the management of Rockbuster Stealth plans to use their existing movie rental licenses to launch an online video rental service in order to stay competitive.

What was done:

  • Loaded the relevant data into a relational database management system (PostgreSQL).
  • Conducted a thorough analysis of the data, addressing ad-hoc business questions using SQL.
  • Enabled stakeholders to grasp critical data-driven information, bridging the gap between technical data and business decision-makers.
